College is undoubtedly a rite of passage for young adults in America. The experience is filled with new academic challenges, new relationships, new social and physical environments, but also new dangers. America's college and university campuses are not immune to the staggering realities of the world outside of the campus gates. Crime, sexual violence, alcohol and drug abuse, and hate crimes have now become a part of life on many campuses.

We ask college and universities nationwide to join Security On Campus, Inc. and participate in National Campus Safety Awareness Month. It is our hope that all college and university campuses will strive to create safe and secure environments where students are able to flourish.

We hope that your involvement in NCSAM will inspire you to generate ideas on how to promote campus safety that you can share with the larger academic community.
